Swim Lessons

Elli has been taking swim lessons this week at the YMCA.  We have one more week of them. I'll admit, they are stressing me out because we do them from 5:00-5:30 and then we get home and have to fix dinner. Jacob has really stepped up and helped with that, but I'll be glad when lessons are over anyways.

Ahoy Thar Mateys!!!

We are finishing up our Pirate Week at Summer Camp by Mom.  I was hoping to take Elli on a pirate ship Saturday that was coming to New Bern, but the company cancelled the tour so I'm not sure how to end our pirate week. We may all haul in the car and meet the pirate ship in Beaufort, or we may get creative here in New Bern. We'll see how we feel tomorrow (more importantly...how Daddy feels).

Summer camp could be better - I would appreciate a little more routine but that may be too much to ask from a 3 year old.  She did great with all of our work.  We focused on patterns, beginning sounds, sorting, coin names, added a new sight word "look."  Some days we did our work after nap, sometimes after breakfast, sometimes while we ate lunch.  Jackson has been sick all week so we had to work around his needs (and he had a lot of them!)

We won't do a theme next week since we have VBS and then the following week we will study Oceans (with a trip to Jacksonville Florida with Daddy's work!!!!)

Created a Storm in a Bottle

Adding rocks for the bottom of the sea...

Putting in "treasure" from our treasure chest.

The different levels of food coloring gave opportunity to talk about how the bottom of the ocean was dark since it was far away from the sun.

Could We Market This?

Do you think the company would buy this clip for their advertisements?  I know I'm biased - but it seems like it might just sell their product!!

Her Daddy's Girl

Yep.  Elli certainly is her father's child...

A Sentence

No picture today, but something exciting did happen at church. Elli knows lots of words some of her favorites being "more, please, plane, car, ball, hands, tights, shoes, pretty, mouth, eyes, ears, nose, diaper, trash, happy" and the list goes on. Elli knows some two word combinations such as "where mommy?" or "bye bye daddy" or "mommy drink" or "baby drink." However, today she broke new ground. After church Elli and Jacob were having a tea party at one of the tables in the nursery. There were three chairs. I walked in the doorway to tell them we had to go and Elli pointed at the empty chair and said emphatically, "sit down mommy." A perfect sentence...I was so proud!

Ok, enough bragging! Now if only we can get her to say, "sit down mommy please!"
